Elika Gallery presents from May 17th until June 18th the new work of Dimitris Merantzas.  The installation is called “Unknown heroes – Renown heroes”. Destroyed pistols, that have been violently distorted, pose as human war victims. The heroes that have never returned home. Some, the unknown, have stayed unburied under the strong redemptive sunlight. Others, the renown, are resting with honorary burials into the ground. Two Olympic pedestals of winners are completing the installation, giving an ironic dimension to the success and the joy of winning.

Dimitris Merantzas was born in 1967 in Athens, Greece. In 1988 he graduated from the School of cinematography and TV of Lykourgos Stavrakos, as a Director of photography. This is his 8th solo exhibition (Nationan Museum of Contemporary Art of Thessaloniki, Qbox gallery, Ileana Tounta center of contemporary art, Tsatsis Projects), while he has also exhibited in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His works can be found in important private and public collections.
